Recent Reports

Greetings one and all. Mark, here. I would personally like to address the recent allegations of our use of AI to create our logo.

After careful investigation, we found that the images were stock images purchased from Adobe by our artist. See screenshots from Adobe Stock. We did find one that was generated by AI, a font – purchased prior to Adobe Stock changing their disclosure and labeling policy. At the time, our artist did not know that the font was not created by a human. Everything used to create the image was selected as stock photos, purchased directly from Adobe, and our talented convention artist, Rhiannon Massaro, has the receipts.

We will reiterate once more – we do not encourage the use of AI. However, we also do not encourage intolerance. We understand the aversion to AI usage – taking away from real artists and creators. We apologize for the unfortunate misunderstanding, but we take things like this very seriously and can safely say that our integrity and commitment to you is a top priority. We will NEVER knowingly or intentionally misguide, misdirect, mislead, or misinform you.

Our goal is to create an event that is enjoyable for everyone. Period.

Having said that, I want to address one more thing. To all of you keeping us honest – we appreciate you. However, what we would appreciate more is for you to ask questions before assuming the worst. We could have addressed the issue and avoided a lot of unnecessary hassle, frustration, and hardship on our artist and staff. Please consider this in the future.

Sincerely,

Mark Bogner

Con Staff and ⅓ Chairperson.

Let There Be An AAC!

Hello from Cleveland!

Weston Kincade
Weston Kincade

Weston Kincade here, experienced fiction author, teacher, and lit convention designer. You may not have heard of me, but if you ever attended Cleveland ConCoction, I designed and ran the Authors Alley department with the help of some very special people.

The convention has grown and is still doing well, but Marcus Calvert (co-host from Prompt Joust and an exceptional novelist) reached out, inquiring if I’d be interested in designing a full-fledged book convention. It didn’t take long to get me aboard for this project.

Let there be an AAC!
